August 14 - Zanzibar (Ras Nungwi)
We are in Zanzibar and Katie has bet me $100 that I wouldn't write another journal entry before we left for home. Well, she would have won if she didn't say something to me today. Anyway, I'll write one, no big deal!

August 12 - Stone Town, Zanzibar (Tanzania)
We are having an incredible time in Zanzibar. The internet connection at this cafe is expensive and very slow, so I will just be posting a few journals. There may be internet at our next hotel, so I could post pics tomorrow or the next day - we shall see!

August 9 - Ngorongoro, Tanzania
Today was our final game drive of the trip. Ngorongoro is a huge caldera/crater that was formed from a collapsed volcano, and has become the permanent home for a wide variety of animals.

Aug 3 - Kibale Thoughts
So I'm writing from inside a hotel that has four walls and doesn't stink of animal. Well, at least it doesn't smell too much. Haha! So anyway, once again I have nothing to say - I'll let Katie do all the talking. We almost stayed in a treehouse that was in my opinion a cardboard box in a tree. It had a family of spiders in the corner of the roof, you heard me right, corner of the roof. The place should be shut down. Then we stayed in a tent. All night we heard animals chirping, yelling, mooing, snoring, farting, walking. Whatever animals do at night. It was an experience. So I stayed up waiting for whatever to at least stop doing something to go to bed. We're having fun, but right now I love to go to a McDonalds! The people have been nice, and we've learned a lot, but I definitely miss home. We still have 2 weeks in Africa. Next we go to Tanzania, then on to Zanzibar, which hopefully is the island paradise that we've heard it is! Catch you all later!
Aug 3 - Lake Mburo & Kampala
We slept well in our tent -- we did hear some animals walking around outside though, so we didn't want to go to the bathroom! We were ok though - probably just some warthogs... Yay! We finally saw a leopard! Mike spotted him crossing the road ahead of us, but by the time I had my camera out, he had disappeared. We also saw a hippo roaming around...those things really are huge.

July 28 - Giraffe Manor
Jambo! Another fine day in Africa! We got up for a 7:30 am game drive. Again, we did not see the leopard, but our driver, Michael, sure tried. We did see some cool things though...a baby (mtoto) rhino and its mother, a hyena chasing the pelicans on the shore of Lake Nakuru, and a LOT of baboon. We saw several babies and young ones too....soooo cute! After the game drive, we headed back to Nairobi and the Giraffe Manor, our next overnight stay.

July 24 - Nairobi, Kenya (The Carnivore!)
Rather than going crazy sightseeing on our first day in Africa, we opted to rest up for the rest of our trip, and we didn't go to the museum or Nairobi Nat'l Park as we had talked about. We did however, go to The Carnivore Restaurant for dinner!
