SO its another wonderful night in Africa.
We just pulled into the lodge and my phone of course has no service. It hasn't had service since we left london. Damn American phones. Why can't we start a generation that gives a shot about more than just themselves for once. Anyway, so my phone picked up a bit of a signal for 2 minutes and I got a chance to catch some text messages. Its cool I got to send some back. Well, I'm almost tired of the safaris now. We have seen a lot of buffalo and zebra. We get excited over seeing a bird that has a longer beak and a different color. Not that I'm not still excited to be in Africa. The people are cool as sh*t. I thought there would be a problem but haven't come across one yet. They are so excited to see people from America. One guy asked me for any piece of American culture I could give him. I look around in my bag but I needed everything I was carrying, I felt bad. The coolest thing we did lately was going into a Massai Village. We met the chief's son. He was dressed in Nike sandals, Nike shorts, and a long red robe of sorts. He was about 6'3" but as skinny as a stick. We said hello and said that this was his village and his name was......Alex? Yeah, I wasn't thinking his name was going to be Alex either. Anyway, he said he had traveled around out of the village in Tanzania, and he spoke English very well. He showed us his cow corral, goat corral, his house and his family. He was 21 and he said he killed a lion when he was 15. Don't know if I could believe it but he did show me a lion tooth(heavy) and a lions mane. Probably bought at Costco for 30.99. Just kidding. But it was all impressive. Trust me, being there and hearing the stories Alex told us was great. It was weird thinking that just on the other side of the road people slept in houses that were built to code and were protected from predators by gates and walls. Then to walk around Alex's village and see cow sh*t everywhere, and when I mean everywhere, I mean the houses were literally made of cow sh*t. We got to see him build a fire. It was badass. I wanted to try it. Anyway, that was about it, we have been traveling for days and its pretty tiresome. We still have 3 weeks from today and I am already starting to miss DVR. I know this is something I cannot tape and watch later though so I am into it. Oh yeah, I killed the biggest spider I have ever seen. I didn't get a picture of it because it was huge and I just wanted to kill it and get back to bed. Put seriously, it was a tarantula. It was a small one but it was one. I had fun jumping on it. Anyway, hopefully I don't see another one, or I am going home. I'm checking every room from now on. Funny thing is I had a dream after I killed it. I dreamt that the onwers of the hotel were pissed because I killed the "pet" spider. They showed me where it slept and everything. Ever have one of those dreams where you wake up and say, what the F*&K was that about. Yeah well, that was mine. Those crazy Africans!
