We got a reverse 911 call telling us to evacuate at 6:00am on Monday, October 22. We quickly packed up the pets and essentials, and we headed to Katie's grandparents' house in Imperial Beach where we spent three days glued to the news. We were able to return to our home late Wednesday afternoon, and except for a lot of ash, everything was ok. The hill that we can see from our backyard was not so lucky -- there were six or seven custom homes up there, and most are burned now....it looks like the only thing left are the chimneys.
